Precast/Prestressed Girder Help

Analysis Tab

In the case of the flared girder layout, the live load distribution factors (on the Analysis Factors dialog box) are computed at each tenth point along the beam, taking into consideration the bridge cross section details at each tenth point, which may vary along the span length. It should be noted that the LRFD code [Art. 4.6.2.2.1] limits the use of the equations for cases where beams are parallel, and therefore the user is cautioned to use their own prudent judgement on whether to manually input a live load distribution factor computed based on a set of hand calculations or from other FEM/Load distribution software. Please refer to LRFD C4.6.2.2.1 for additional guidance.

When the dead load distribution factor computation is set to be computed as per the option based on Tributary Fraction, the tributary fraction width is computed using the bridge cross-section at midspan. The Analysis tab shows the dead and live load shear and moment results under both Load Case and Envelope for each beam individually. These results are based on the physical member lengths taking into account all geometric criteria.
